Assumption Society Netcong

Blessed Mother

The belief in the Assumption of Mary flows immediately from the belief in her Immaculate Conception. The belief that Mary was preserved from sin by the free gift of God, she would not be bound to experience the consequences of sin--death--in the same way we do. Mary's assumption shows the result of this freedom from sin--the immediate union of her whole being with her Son Jesus Christ with God at the end of her life.

The belief that the Blessed Virgin Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was assumed both body and soul into heavenly glory.

The Netcong Feast Of Assumption Society was founded in 1922 as a non-profit organization.

From then until present, the organization hosts our day procession, night festival with fireworks, fundraisers, and performs other charitable events during the year.

 We need your help!

We are looking for our original charter banner for The Feast of the Assumption. Our only clue as to when it was last used, and who had it, is from a brief history written by a past member. It was last used about 1940 and the last person to possess it was Mr. Basile of Netcong- not sure of first name. This original banner is very important to us; it may even have the founding families’ names of our Society on it. Please help us find this. Talk to anyone you know that may lead this piece of history back to us.

Thank you for your help,

The Assumption Society of Netcong, NJ
